Ok, so here is my story...
Just over a year ago, I bought my wife her new computer. Everything was good, until just after warranty ran out about by 2 weeks. Not thinking the HD would crash just over a year of buying it, it had not been backed up. MY STUPIDITY.
So I got a new HD, and attempted to ghost copy it. No dice. So I gave the HD to my Step Daughter who works at a computer repair place, and she could not mirror it either. The HD was just that far gone. So what I did was go online, and buy "Restore" disks. It did a restore on the new HD and it was up and running. However, I notice it will not activate. I keep getting a 0X8007007B error on the activation.
I have combed the net and tried everything I can to solve it, and I would like to just get a new code (Or if any of you fine folks can tell me how to get the original code) to windows 8. I have tried code grabbers and such, and the code it gives me, is a generic Win 8.1 code.
I would like to find the original code for windows 8, since there is no sticker or anything that will tell me what the code was. I am frustrated, that Dell didn't put this on their units and I am almost will to just fork over the money to get a new code, if I could find a place to buy one.
I am wanting to put her computer on the waiting list for Windows 10, but can't until it is activated. Other then that, the computer runs great.
Oh, on a side note, the original version was 8.1 after upgrade, but when I put the new HD in, it installed the Pro version of Win8.1 if that helps any.
